Government Grants
Government grants are financial aid awards usually based on financial need information received from your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Get information about Federal Pell grants, federal supplemental educational opportunity grants and Pennsylvania state grants.
Federal Pell Grant
To be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate high financial need. Eligibility is determined by the federal formula on the FAFSA. Pell Grant amounts may range from $657 to $6,345 (for 2020-2021 year).
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
These federally funded grants are need-based grants awarded by Harrisburg University. These grants may be given to students with extremely high financial need. As a campus based funding source, available awards are limited so Harrisburg University determines eligible students.
Pennsylvania State Grant (PHEAA Grant)
Pennsylvania State Grants are awarded to students who are Pennsylvania residents who demonstrate financial need and who attend at least half-time. Students must file the FAFSA. Grant eligibility is determined by PHEAA (Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency). The amount of the Pennsylvania State Grant may range from $500 to $4,140 (for 2020-2021 year) and may be awarded for a maximum of eight semesters. For additional information, visit PHEAA’s website at www.pheaa.org.
